Contributing authors from Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, and West Virginia have been brought together for the creation of this manual, edited by Dr Ralph Buschbacher. The book is divided into three basic sections, dealing respectively with principles of musculoskeletal rehabilitation, management of problems subdivided by anatomic region, and a special-issues section that addresses both common conditions about which every doctor should know and currently rising issues or concerns based on age, gender, and physiologic functional status. Each chapter concludes with a condensation of important concepts to remember.

The first section contains a chapter highlighting spinal manipulation and mobility, which is intriguing if not controversial; basic principles of tissue function and healing are included. The second section provides information on appropriate examination, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
